Training For Professionals

The Cognitive Therapy Institute offers a variety of training and consultation options for mental health professionals of all disciplines: psychiatrists, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and others have come to the Institute for advanced training in cognitive therapy (CT) and for guidance in the integration of CT with other treatment approaches for specific conditions such as PTSD, OCD, other anxiety disorders, or depression. We periodically offer a Brief Training Class and will be offering other supervision groups for mental health professionals. Some mental health professionals prefer our 1:1 consultation options because they offer flexibility in terms of focusing on treatment of specific conditions or cases, such as the CBT protocol for panic disorder, or because we can then offer flexibility in the scheduling or the meeting times. Our staff not only includes members of theAcademy of Cognitive Therapy, each of our licensed therapists has additional areas of expertise such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, sexual abuse, child and adolescent psychotherapy, and weight loss.

Supervision

Intermediate and Advanced Supervision groups are offered for mental health professionals who have some background in Cognitive Therapy. The groups are oriented toward strengthening your competency in cognitive therapy conceptualizations and interventions, and will address integration of CT with other therapy approaches. The supervision groups will primarily emphasize application of CT to clinical cases that are presented by the participants and supervisor, but the Intermediate group will also include advanced training in particular CT treatment protocols for panic, social phobia, depression, OCD, and other conditions and will offer skill-enhancement regarding CT interventions.
